Sport Manitoba Preparing to Move to the Sport for Life Centre Sport Organizations Busy Packing Winnipeg, MB – Sport Manitoba has operated out of the 200 Main Street building since its inception in 1996. With lease agreements at 200 Main ending December 31, 2009, staff and volunteers will be in transition until the Sport for Life Centre at 145 Pacific Avenue is ready for occupancy. The transition period is expected to last four to six weeks. “The sport community has been very patient and supportive. They recognize that a short-term interim move will lead to a new home which will have a tremendous impact on sport for generations to come”, said Jeff Hnatiuk, President and CEO Sport Manitoba. “We expect Phase One of the Sport for Life Centre will be ready for occupancy at the end of January.” In the interim, approximately thirty-five Provincial Sport Organizations will work from home while fifteen sport organizations, such as Curl Manitoba, Hockey Manitoba, Skate Canada - Manitoba, Manitoba High Schools Athletics Association, and Manitoba Volleyball will move into office space at 1271 Sargent Avenue. “The amateur sport calendar is active year-round, so there isn’t really a good time to move,” said Hnatiuk. “Our winter sports are very busy and we want to ensure the amateur sport community are aware of the transition and know how to reach their sport organization.” The majority of provincial sport organizations will maintain their current contact information (phone, email, mail). In the interim, all mail should be sent to 200 Main Street. Phone calls and emails will be forwarded to sport organizations at their interim locations.
