MODS 2009
VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

This past year was a huge year for MODS. The organization continued to grow and on top of all of our programming we also hosted the 2009 Canadian Ultimate Championships. Given the massive amount of time volunteered this year we felt it appropriate to recognize two individuals. Who won? Click the read more button to find out.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR #1

ANGELA PEREZ

Angela had her hands full this year. As the acting Director of Volunteers for the 2009 CUC she was under the gun to come up with over 200 volunteers. The event could not have ran as smoothly as it did without the army of volunteers and given the weather and circumstances it was amazing that we were able to fill all of the spots. As a member of the Executive Committee Angela's numerous volunteer hours were not eligible for the MODS "Volunteer Pay Back" program. Her work on the CUC would have been enough to earn this award but I feel compelled to mention this is nothing new for Angela. In 2005 she acted in the same capacity for that years CUC event. In addition to this Angela has volunteered her services at Flatland and Championship Weekend's over the last few years. So you can kind of say she was "due". Thanks again for all of your hard work.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR #2

KELVIN DYCK

Kelvin was a one man army for MODS this summer. Kelvin (and his truck) were on the scene in several capacities this summer and he had a huge impact at several events. Kelvin helped to make the CUPS Tournament at the FLATLAND party possible by transporting the snow fence equipment for us. At the CUC Kelvin dedicated a week of holidays to our cause. He worked nearly non stop helping with food pick ups, site set up and then took on the task of water delivery. Our water sponsor could not keep up with the demand so Kelvin had to spend almost all of his time driving their van back and forth. He was so good at it that they offered him a job. Kelvin also stepped up for the "Churchill Drive Maintenance" project, the guy even acted as BBQ chef at the CUC Volunteer BBQ. Take a break Kelvin you've earned one.

Both winners will receive a VOY Plaque recognizing their contributions and gift certificate to the restaurant of their choice.
Thanks to everyone who helped out this year. Our organization is nothing without the efforts of our volunteers.
