If you are interested in helping others learn about Ultimate, then MODS has some great opportunities for you. MODS is looking for volunteers to act as observers, mentors for beginner teams and coaches for youth teams. MODS also requires several volunteers to help with tournaments and Championship Weekend.

Volunteering

There are numerous opportunities to get involved with MODS over the year. We run several tournaments and are always in need of volunteers to help with set up and take down, planning of events and running disc central. See below for other specific opportunities.

Coaching Youth Leagues

MODS will run summer months middle school and high school hat leagues this year. These leagues will operate in the months of July & August on either Tuesday or Wednesday evenings. We are looking for people who are interested in coaching youth teams. No experience in coaching Ultimate is necessary as training is provided. This is a great opportunity to pass on your love of Ultimate and introduce youth to the game. If numbers permit, there will be 2 coaches per team in case 1 coach has to miss a game or two. Please feel free to sign up as an individual or as a duo. Stipends are available for all coaching positions. If you are interested in coaching a youth team this summer, please send an e-mail to Corey with: nights available and preferred age group. Please note: in order to coach the middle school league you must be 18 years or older. For the high school age group you must be 21 or older.

Mentoring

Mentoring

This summer MODS will run a beginners league. This is an individual sign up league where beginners can sign up to learn how to play Ultimate. It will run in July & August on Tuesday evenings. In order to help new players learn the Spirit of the Game, rules of Ultimate and skills needed to play, we are looking to recruit mentors to help out each beginner team. We are hoping this will help develop novice players into skilled and spirited ultimate players. To be a mentor you don't need to be an A level player. We are looking for spirited players who understand the basics of the game. Training is provided. Stipends are available for all mentor positions. If you are interested in being a mentor, please contact Corey.

Observers

MODS is looking for experienced ultimate players to work as observers for the 2008 ultimate season. The observer program is designed to help pass on rules knowledge to new players and teams. We are looking for people who are willing to work 1 or 2 nights a week and have a love of the game. These are paid positions. If you are interested in working as an observer, please send an application stating why you would like to be an observer as well as any ultimate related experience to Corey. Experience is not necessary as training is provided.
