CUC JR Division Change

In 2012 the junior division at the Canadian Ultimate Championships (CUC) will change from one mixed division into two new divisions: junior open and a junior women’s.

The decision to change the junior division at the CUC was primarily made to support the development of our elite junior athletes and our national team programs. The World Flying Disc Federation currently only offers two junior divisions at world championships: open and women’s. Many junior players who are selected to play on a Canadian junior national team do not have experience playing on a single gender team before their selection to the national team. By providing junior players with an opportunity to play on a single gender team at the CUC, it is hoped that junior players will be better prepared for world championships.

This decision has been made based on the recommendation of the Ultimate Canada development committee after consultation with junior coaches, junior players and the Ultimate Canada competition committee.
