Dear MODS Members,
I want to thank everyone who took the time to attend the AGM, send their proxy, stood for election, and care about the direction of MODS. Per MODS Bylaws, the board members elect the officers at the first meeting of the Board following the AGM. That meeting occurred on August 25, and I am pleased to introduce Tracy Hunt as Vice President, Leandra Harms as Secretary, Kimly Vu as Treasurer, and myself, A.J. Hunter, as President. We also have Claire Falgui, Dennis Lu, Joann Lui, Steve Baria, and Tim Nikkel as Members-at-Large.
MODS is extremely fortunate to have a passionate and diverse ultimate community. Our community asked for member-driven transparency, accountability and meaningful opportunities for members to have a voice in the direction of MODS. The Board will ensure MODS members understand how and why decisions are made; that their feedback is actively sought and meaningfully considered; and decisions that are communicated clearly and respectfully.
I also want to recognize that MODS has had a tremendous amount of good work happening already. Many people contribute their time, energy and expertise to make our leagues, tournaments, programs and community possible. That work deserves recognition, and it is something we will build upon.
Ultimate athletes compete hard while maintaining Spirit; this is one of the things that makes our sport special. I believe MODS should be governed in that same spirit.
For those that came before this iteration of the Board, thank you for your commitment to MODS. For those that are now part of the Board, and those that will continue to volunteer their time - you are appreciated. And thank you to all MODS members for being a part of the Ultimate community.
