MODS High School and Middle School fall leagues will run from the end of April through late May, leading up to Provincials at the end of May (info on Provincials is further down)

High School League will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning April 30th and running until May 23rd. Games will run from 4:30-5:55.

MIddle School League will run on Wednesdays, beginning date May 1st and running until May 22nd. Games will run from 4:30-5:55.

Interested schools should contact the MODS Program Coordinator, Josh Drury. Please include school name, number of teams per school, preferred division (A, B or C) and preferred playing locations (mainly Assiniboine Park and Churchill Drive Park but with the possibility of 'home' games for schools with adequate fields available). These details can be determined as you get into the school year and determine interest from your team.

Teams must send a representative to the Coaches Meeting on the evening of April 17th (location TBD). This should be a coach is possible but an alternative delegate can be sent if needed.
In order to complete registration teams must have:
  • An initial email indicating registration of the team(s) – and follow-up if necessary to confirm details including number of teams and desired tier(s)
  • A roster for each team (including name, gender, date of birth) submitted electronically (Excel or Word preferred). Roster additions/changes can be made later if needed.
  • Signed Assumption of Risk for all rostered players
  • Player membership and team registration fees (late additions to the roster can be paid for later but will not be allowed to play until their Assumption of Risk is submitted)

Starting a new school team?

If you are entering a new team that has not participated in school leagues or Provincials before this year, please contact Josh Drury, MODS Program Coordinator, to register the team.

MODS can provide assistance in getting the team started, including answering any questions on leagues and/or tournaments, assisting with administrative requirements, assisting in finding coaches or coaching resources, and offering clinics at schools. We would love to have new schools on board, so let us know what you need to help you get started!

High School/Middle School Provincials and other tournaments

2013 High School and Middle School Provincials will be held on May 25-26 at Winnipeg Ultimate Park and the adjacent Maple Grove Rugby Park. In the event of extreme weather such that the event needs to be postponed (as occured in 2010) the rain dates will be the following weekend, June 1-2. Participation at Provincials is open to all high school and middle school teams, regardless of participation in spring and fall leagues.

Teams can register for the tournament by emailing Josh by May 13th. As with league, all players participating must be MODS members and have completed waivers - if players have already registered for league or other MODS programs in spring 2013 they will not need to register again. The fee for Provincials is $250 per team, covering up to 14 players and 2 coaches. For additional players or coaches add $10 to the fee. Registration fees cover tournament participation, field food, and pizza and pop for each team.

The 2013 High School Indoor Tournament is a one day tournament that will be held on Saturday May 4th at the University of Manitoba Indoor Soccer Complex. The tournament will run from 9 am to 6 pm. There is room for 16 teams. Schools may enter multiple teams, however we will give priority to ensuring all interested schools can enter at least one team before allowing schools to enter a second team (similarly we will prioritse 2nd teams over 3rd teams if there is that level of interest).

Cost of entry will be $150 per team. this will be payable at the Coaches' Meeting on April 17th.

Games will be played 5 on 5 on smaller fields (identical to MODS Winter Indoor Leagues). To register a team or get more info contact Josh.

Other tournaments:

Daniel McIntyre High School Tournament (at Tec Voc athletic fields). Dates and details to be confirmed (likely Friday, May 11-Saturday, May 12). Contact Max Hegel for more information.

Calgary Showdown High School Tournament - May 18-19. Open to teams from across Western Canada. Contact Tim Friesen for more information.

We are currently confirming the clinic location (the clinic requires a classroom setting and access to a gym for a few hours); this and other details will be added as they are confirmed. There are two scholarships available; the “Dean Wright Scholarship” and the “Dr. Colin Yeung Scholarship”. As of 2011, the value of these scholarships has been increased to $500 each (previously $250 each). Preference will be given to athletes attending university or college in Manitoba.
