2012 High School/Middle School Leagues

MODS High School and MIddle School Leagues will run through the month of May, primarily at Assiniboine Park and Churchill Drive Park.

High School League will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning May 1st (weather and fields permitting). Games will run from 4:30-5:55.

MIddle School League will run on Wednesdays, beginning May 2nd (weather permitting. Games will run from 4:30-5:55.

All players must be MODS members (junior MODS memberships are $10). Players may register and pay online or pay via their schools (teams should pay cash or cheque to MODS for memberships, payable at the Coaches' Meeting). Players must have a printed waiver signed by their parent or guardian. Waivers should also be brought to the Coaches' Meeting (late additons may be turned in to MODS at a later date if needed).

The Coaches' Meeting will be held on April 18, beginning at 7 pm, in the metting room in the basement of the Quality Inn at Grant and Pembina. The meeting will be used to review details of the spring league and Provincial Championships, new "LTAD" initiatives for the Middle School league, to meet other coaches, and to turn in rosters, waivers, and membership fees (aside from those where athletes pay MODS directly) for your team. We would like every team represented, whether by head coach, assistant coach or an alternate representative if needed. Please mark your calendars so you are able to ensure someone can make it.

Registration deadline for all teams is Monday April 23rd (to allow the schedule to be released that week). Schools are encouraged to register before the Coaches' Meeting on the 18th if possible. Regardless of whether a team is registered by the 18th they should send a representative to the Coaches' Meeting. Registration for the league can be done by emailing Josh Drury; please indicate number of teams for the school, if you have location preference for games (Assiniboine Park or Churchill Drive Park, and if you can host games/travel to other schools for games) and which division you would like the team to participate in (A or B). We will aim to schedule games at preferred location and within preferred divisions as much as possible, though some crossover games may be needed if divisions are uneven.

If you have any questions please contact the MODS Program Coordinator, Josh Drury.

Starting a new school team?

If you are entering a new team that has not participated in school leagues or Provincials before this year, please contact Josh Drury, MODS Program Coordinator, to register the team.

MODS can provide assistance in getting the team started, including answering any questions on leagues and/or tournaments, assisting with administrative requirements, assisting in finding coaches or coaching resources, and offering clinics at schools. We would love to have new schools on board, so let us know what you need to help you get started!

High School/Middle School Provincials and other tournaments

2012 High School and Middle School Provincials will be held on May 26-27 at Assiniboine Park. In the event of extreme weather such that the event needs to be postponed (as occured in 2010) the rain dates will be the following weekend, June 2-3. Participation at Provincials is open to all high school and middle school teams, regardless of participation in spring and fall leagues.

Teams can register for the tournament by emailing Josh by May 18th.  As with league, all players participating must be MODS members and have completed waivers - if players have already registered for league or other MODS programs in spring 2012 they will not need to register again.  The fee for Provincials is $200 per team, covering up to 14 players and 2 coaches.  For additional players or coaches add $10 to the fee.  Registration fees cover tournament participation, field food, and pizza and pop for each team.

The 2012 High School Indoor Tournament is a one day tournament that will be held on Sunday May 13th at the University of Manitoba Indoor Soccer Complex. The tournament will run from 9 am to 6 pm. We will be expanding the tournament to allow up to 24 teams. Schools may enter multiple teams, however we will give priority to ensuring all interested schools can enter at least one team before allowing schools to enter a second team (similarly we will prioritse 2nd teams over 3rd teams if there is that level of interest).

Cost of entry will be $100 per team. this will be payable at the Coaches' Meeting on April 18th.

Games will be played 5 on 5 on smaller fields (identical to MODS Winter Indoor Leagues). To register a team or get more info contact Josh.
