Graduating athletes are invited to apply for the MODS Ultimate Junior Development Scholarships. Our scholarship program was established to support young athletes who continue to participate in ultimate while pursuing a post secondary education on a full-time basis.
Emphasis for this program is placed on athletes who have competed at the provincial level or higher, and who have maintained a high level of academic standing, while showing a commitment to ultimate through their involvement in playing, coaching, observing, and volunteer activities. There are three scholarships available:
The value of each scholarship is $500. Preference will be given to athletes attending university or college in Manitoba.
Created in 2016, this scholarship is named after one of Manitoba's premier ultimate players and founding members, Jean-Luc Forest. The scholarship will highlight an athlete in the high school environment moving on towards post-secondary education in the province of Manitoba. Applicants don't need to be the best ultimate player in the province to be eligible for the award, instead "spirit of the game", volunteering, and community involvement will be determining factors in the decision on who wins the scholarship.
One of the first-ever MODS scholarships created, this scholarship is named after one of Manitoba's premier ultimate players, coaches, and program administrators and the God-Father of SJR ultimate, Mr. Dean Wright. The scholarship will highlight an athlete in the high school environment moving on to post secondary education in the province of Manitoba who has excelled in the ultimate community. Applicants need to be an ultimate player within the province to be eligible for the award.
