Letters from the President - July 2020

Summer is in the air!

I hope everyone has had an opportunity to enjoy the warm weather! I also hope there is plenty more of it to enjoy the rest of the year. As far as I am concerned 2020 owes us at least that, right?

As if this year hasn’t been busy enough, the last month and a half has been crazy busy at MODS. We were able to get our Return to Participate document approved by Sport Manitoba and the Province. This finally allowed us to start offering some programming. I want to thank our Board for all the extra hours they put in so that we could get the RTP document approved.  I want to thank our staff for working hard to get the document ready as well as getting us up and running again once we were approved!

We have started our programming with some Clinics, the goal of which was to get people back on their feet and active while still maintaining as much social distancing as possible. We will also have some Disc Golf events coming up this summer, more to come on those soon so keep an eye out! If you missed the registration period for the Clinics and now think you would like to take part, contact Corey and he will be happy to help you out!

Starting in August we hope to start league play. Our hope is that by the start of league the social distancing restrictions for sports will allow us to operate a league with as close to normal play on the field as possible. Unfortunately until we get closer to the start date we won’t know what the provincial guidelines will require of us. Things can change from one day to the next and we have to be ready to act on those guidelines. Once we get closer to the start date for league play we will be updating everyone on where we are at, so stay tuned on that front for more info. If you are interested in registering for summer league, they are currently open on the MODS site now! Due to the pandemic the slots for teams are quite limited compared to years past so don’t wait too long!

Last but not least MODS Annual General Meeting (AGM) is COMING SOON! While we don’t have an exact date as of yet for the AGM, we are looking at some time in September. Because of the restrictions around gathering indoors we are looking at an "online AGM". More details to come soon!
