RECAP - 2024 Canadian Junior Ultimate Championships

We are just over a week removed from the Canadian Junior Ultimate Championships in Ottawa, Ontario. From August 11th to August 14th, our Junior Provincial programs took to the fields to compete on a national stage against club teams from across the country.

Since June, our five junior provincial teams have been training both on and off the field for this event. This included tournaments in Regina, Saskatchewan and Minneapolis, Minnesota leading up to this year’s CUC series.

The Manitoba Organization of Disc Sports would like to congratulate our Team Manitoba Girls for their 4th place finish after a thrilling Bronze medal game against British Columbia’s Canyon; our Team Manitoba Boys for their 10th place finish and a great run in the 9-16 bracket on the final day of the event; our Caribou boys for finishing 20th at the event with a big win over Alberta’s Cannons earlier in the tournament; our Ice girls team for rallying off 4 wins at the event on their way to a 21st place finish; and our Spitfire boys who fought to the very end on their way to a 24th place finish.

We also want to acknowledge the tireless hours our Team Managers Shauna Henwood, Angela Hilliand, Tammy Kasdorf, Keira Bulloch, and Jamie Rincon put into this season and event. Their hard work and organization made this season such a success and made this experience one our juniors will remember.

Finally, we would like to acknowledge our Junior Provincial coaches. Our coaches have been working since the Spring through the tryout season to help our teams succeed and achieve their varying goals throughout the season. Please help us acknowledge our Head Coaches, Erin McKinley, Karen Hatch, Daniel Plourde, Eric Reder, Kendra Borgford, and Ryan Wilson. They were supported by their Assistant Coaches, Devin Cohen, Sean Storm, Jordyn Turner, Gillian Bannister, Jeffrey Boris, Jadon Rich, Diana Faucher, Millie Wright, Diego Chinchilla Chaput, and Jeremy Layco.

With the 2024-2024 High Performance tryouts just around the corner, we can’t wait to start building for what 2025 has in store.
