USAU Rule Updates for 2020-21

As many of you are aware, we at MODS follow the USAU rules and use their rule book to govern our leagues and events. This set of rules is adopted by Ultimate Canada, which helps us with any amendments on their end as it relates to Qualifiers and National Championships for touring teams in the elite spectrum.

For most of our internal leagues and programs in Manitoba, Manitoba Organization of Disc Sports also has a set of amendments to the USAU rules which allow our local programs to function more efficiently.

So what is changing for 2020? Well at this point for us, nothing. Until we get to our new year in April, our existing leagues and programs will continue to follow the same rules we have been using for 2019.

When can our members expect changes and what will they be? We are waiting for a big announcement from Ultimate Canada in late January. This announcement will talk about their interpretation of new rules and changes and which ones they will adopt, modify or ignore moving forward... we want to wait for that announcement to make sure we are in line with their plans. Once that happens we hope to make our own announcements in late January or early February in advance of the spring registration and sign up for summer leagues.

What can you do if you have questions or concerns? Simply reach out to our Operations Director Corey Draper by email (here) or by calling him in the office... We would be happy to listen and take your opinion to heart!

Until then, please find USAU rules, MODS indoor and outdoor amendments on our new rules page (here)! We will be updating it regularly over the next 6 weeks until we have our final plan for 2020 and moving forward.

"Change is always difficult, but progress is impossible without it".
