To our members and community...

This is not the letter to the membership that I thought I would be writing right now. To say we are living in interesting times is a gross understatement. If you are anything like me, I am sure it’s been hard to stay motivated and resist the urge to just nope out of your day. Just remember that this too shall pass, and I hope everyone is taking care of themselves and their loved ones.

As you may have already read in an e-mail, or through our social media posts and website news stories, our staff have been busy planning what our programming would look like this year depending on when life can get back to “normal”. You may also be wondering if it’s even worth getting a membership or signing up for any programs with all this uncertainty. I am happy to report the staff has put in place a great plan for all of it. If you haven’t seen the post, please take a few minutes to read about the options.

At the last AGM we heard from our membership that MODS should start doing more in regards to sustainability practices. Enter Aidan Dutka (a student at the University of Manitoba) and his honours thesis project. Aidan has been working on a strategy that MODS could implement to help decrease our negative environmental impact. With that in mind Aidan has created a survey to help further his project. It is completely voluntary and will only take a few minutes to complete. This survey has been approved by the Joint-Faculty Research and Ethics Board at the University of Manitoba. For further information you can read more about this project and survey on our site, or if you are already fully on board here is a link to the survey.

I want to thank our staff for the great job they have done in these extraordinary times. If you are curious about what is going on with MODS feel free to visit the site or check out the Facebook page or any other of our social media accounts. If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to contact us. The MODS offices are closed so if you need to call feel free to use the cell phone numbers or e-mail us and we will try to get back to you as soon as possible!

I hope to see you all on the fields at some point this summer! Until then please everyone stay safe, stay home, but if you absolutely have to leave and you can manage it, take the time to help your neighbours in need! Together (apart) we can get through this!
