MODS STAFF ANNOUNCEMENT

The MODS Board and Office would like to inform our membership of the recent resignation of our Business and Sport Director – Sean Seywright, effective March 24, 2021. Sean was presented with an excellent opportunity and after six years with us, he will be moving on.

In 2015, Sean was introduced to Ultimate and quickly learned about our sport. With a background in sport management, coaching, sports science, and business, Sean was a major part of the restructuring of MODS. He quickly fell in love with the energy and passion that our community has for our sport. Spirit of the Game was something that he embraced and saw as such a strength for MODS.

In his time with MODS, Sean challenged us to think in new ways about how we plan and operate programs and pushed for important changes in many areas. Thanks to Sean, the Winnipeg junior club teams were brought under the MODS umbrella. Our Team Manitoba athletes were exposed to physical trainers who, working with our coaches, supported their development. Strong adherence to Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) meant our teams were trained at the appropriate stage for the athlete. Internalizing the program saved families a significant amount of money and Sean helped to develop the Athlete Assistance Program to assist families in need of financial support.

One of Sean’s biggest accomplishments was the hosting of the World Masters Ultimate Club Championships in 2018 at Little Mountain Sportsplex. This was a massive undertaking and raised the profile of our sport in the city and on a global stage. The permanent structures constructed at IJL Ultimate Park symbolize the legacy of the event and its benefit to MODS.

Through the pandemic, Sean has worked tirelessly over many evenings and weekends to meet deadlines and dedicated himself to making sure MODS remained viable as an organization. He leaves lasting relationships with many key sponsors, vendors and with our partners around the country at the provincial and national levels. Sean also contributed to how our office can be more efficiently structured to promote future organizational success.

At this time, all inquiries that would typically go through Sean can be directed to Corey (opsdirector@mods.mb.ca) or Daniel (president@mods.mb.ca).

Sean will be missed and we wish him all the best as he embarks on his next adventure! Thank you Sean for your years of service to our community.
