The Women’s Development Committee is pleased to announce that we will be able to continue the expanded programming we were able to offer during the January – April 2019 Winter Season, including the second Women’s Intermediate league. As MODS was not able to secure the fields at the Leila Soccer Complex for the second Women’s Intermediate League on Sunday nights, the second Women’s Intermediate league will run out of the University of Winnipeg Recplex on Sunday nights (details below).
Descriptions of the different leagues are as follows:
Women’s Development
This four (4) team league (total of 36 players) will focus on developing and improving ultimate basics. Players will learn the rules and fundamental strategies of the game of ultimate, and also work on developing and refining the basic skills of throwing and catching. It is recommended that any players who are new to handling start in the Women’s Development League.
Games for the Women’s Development League will be Sundays at 6:30 p.m. at the Soccer South (University of Manitoba) Complex. The League begins on October 20, 2019 and will run for twelve weeks.
Registration for Women’s Development league will take place on the MODS website, and leagues will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration for Women’s Development will open at 7 p.m. on Monday, October 7.
Women’s Intermediate
There will be two (2) four (4) team Intermediate Leagues (total of 36 players per league). These Leagues will focus on introducing more advanced strategies and skills to players. Players will be encouraged to get out of their comfort zone and challenge themselves. It is expected that players in the Women’s Intermediate Leagues will be familiar with basic strategies and will be able to throw both backhands and forehands with a mark.
One league will be on Sundays at 6:30 p.m. at the Soccer South (University of Manitoba) Complex. That League begins on October 20, 2019 and will run for twelve weeks.
The second league will be on Sundays at 5:00 p.m. at the University of Winnipeg Recplex. That League begins on October 20, 2019 and will run for twelve weeks.
Registration for the Women’s Intermediate leagues will take place on the MODS website, and leagues will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration for both Women’s Intermediate leagues will open at 7 p.m. on Monday, October 7.
Women’s Advanced
This four (4) team league (total of 36 players) is intended to build on the established game play and skills of experienced players.
Games for the Women’s Advanced League will be Mondays at 8 p.m. at the University of Winnipeg Recplex. The League begins on October 21, 2019 and will run for twelve weeks.
For Women’s Advanced League, players are asked to complete this Google Form by Friday, October 4 in order to submit their names for consideration: https://forms.gle/bMhs5uL23D8L8wNd9 . Players for the Women’s Advanced League will be selected after a Try-it-Out Night on Sunday, October 6 from 6 pm to 7 pm at the Soccer South (University of Manitoba) Complex.
