With approved protocols, Ultimate is back for summer 2020!

We have adapted our summer youth programs to follow the protocols that have been approved by Sport Manitoba and local provincial health authorities within Manitoba. We will not be able to play full games until stage 2, but there is still lots we can do in terms of clinics, camps and drills!

Our focus will be on fun, spirit and a healthy return during the months of June and July. We will work on skill-based drills and activities that will adhere to social distancing guidelines while helping our athletes get back into game shape with healthy reactivation (coming from months of sedentary and isolationist habits). This includes ultimate-related activities in small groups and controlled practices.

There will also be junior disc golf tournaments throughout June, July and August (those dates and events will be added to this page in coming days).

2020 Team Manitoba 12-15

REGISTRATION OPENS: June 15th (at 12pm)   REGISTRATION CLOSES: June 26th

Ages: 12 to 15 year old players (some experience required)

Cost: $250.00 + GST

Times: 5:15pm to 7:00pm

What is the Team Manitoba 12-15 year old program? This is the entry level program for juniors to begin training on an elite pathway. This age group represents our youngest group of touring players and the first stages of competitive development within the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) framework. Athletes in this program should expect to work out daily on their core strength and cardio. In addition to personal physical development, this years program will also allow athletes to progressively return to full practices by introducing limited partner drills and working up to more complicated practices once it is safe to do so.

Following this program, MODS is hoping to have a 5 on 5 junior league option in place for stage 2 which will replace the cancelled CUC series this year (National Championships) and give the athletes a chance to compete and work on their newly obtained skills in a team environment. More on this league in the coming weeks as we learn what safe options we can present to our members.

For more information please contact Corey Draper, MODS Director of Operations or register on our Team Manitoba 12-15 page here!

Staying Safe

Our activities will be amended in accordance with evolving health guidelines. Some of the steps we are taking include:

  • Training our instructors in the guidelines set forth by the provincial health authority, Sport Manitoba and MODS
  • Providing washing stations on site for participants (all members are required to bring their own sanitary wipes and gels to MODS programs)
  • Supervision of sanitization of personal equipment before and after practices
  • Limiting the number of participants to allow for physical distancing; participants and instructors will maintain a minimum 2 meter distance from each other

Please note some details are subject to change depending on new government guidelines. We are also considering and open to new recommendations and other protocols such as having instructors wear masks.
