Beat the Skeeters Wrap Up - 2019

Mother Nature tried to throw the adult ultimate tournament a wrench on Saturday, but parents had paid for sitters, adults wanted to play ultimate and visit with friends and those without kids needed beer... so in steady wind and rain
(at least we didn't have lightning or heavy rain), the ultimate community of Manitoba (and guests from Thunder Bay, Ontario) would not be detered!

We all have fond memories from our youth of backyard play-dates as we ran through sprinklers in the wet grass with friends, cousins and siblings... This is what our 18 teams brought to the fields Saturday! With soft and wet grass, layouts were abundent and grass stains, mud stains and filth all became badges of honour in the wet and mucky conditions.

Sunday brought more sunshine, and also a much longer line for treatment at the therapy tent (thank you MATA) as the Saturday warriors become Sunday wounded. However as one parent yelled to start the day "the kids are with their grandparents, let's do this!" and so... it was done.

The tier A champions We think this is how it went down, but as we don't have a single score from the A division we are going off cheers, upset faces after games and beer garden talk to determine results... Scrubs became legends of BTS tournament history after beating the team from parts unknown, known only as GAIA Sale in the A division final.

The tier B champions Tequila Sunrise rose over their rivals MASTERS OF DISCGUISE. The team named for the iconic beverage was able to see right through their competitions clever disguises enroute to BTS immortality.

The tier C champions Air Traffic Control did win over A Team Has No Name. However the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) and and IOC have been contacted. There is a complaint that Air Traffic Control brought in ringers from the former Soviet Union and that they were seen taking heavy doses of steroids before all games, however the person who made the complaint has not been seen or heard from since last being seen on stage at the Lime-Light Saturday night and we may not be able to complete the investigation.

The Spirit Champions were Get Lei'd. Ironically the most spirited constume on the team refused to take any spirited pictures... however the team had fun and made many firends throughout the weekend.

Next Year - BEAT THE SKEETERS 20!!! We return to the birthplace of MODS and BTS... Assiniboine Park (maybe)!
